6 Accessories I Wish I could Justify Buying Right Now

So, money is a little tight in the Cupcake Household right now. Electricity and phone line and gas bills all just came; I just made a big ASOS order a couple of weeks ago; I’m lending out money to a housemate who is broke until student loans arrive in January, and I will need to buy some course texts. Oh, and don’t forget that I haven’t yet done my Christmas shopping!

With all that in mind, I don’t have the money to shop for non-essential little trinkets to liven up my style. But that doesn’t stop me from window shopping! Here are the 6 accessories that make me wish Santa was real:

Vintage Cherry-Red Train Case

vintage cherry-red train case, $42, etsy seller naturalhome

Oh! Oh my! I’ve never felt more girly in my life than I do when searching etsy for beautiful vintage train cases. These would make such a fun overnight bag to take to visit my boyfriend, and taking one onto campus filled with books would brighten my day immensely. I can imagine hanging out in the computer science common room and re-applying eyeliner using my handy mirror-inside-the-top. Not that I ever re-apply my eyeliner at University (most days I’m not even awake with enough time to spare to put it on in the first place), but if I had this train case I would make a point of doing so.

This beautiful red boxy example is my current favourite, but there are loads of other great vintage train cases available on etsy, to suit all kinds of fashions and colour schemes. Just search ‘train case’ under ‘vintage’.

ketylo hairsticks, Dymondwood Agatewood - Long, $16

ketylo hairsticks, Dymondwood Agatewood - Long, $16

I have long hair. I like to use hairsticks and hair forks. And I hear a rumour that these hairsticks rock! I have to admit, they are very pretty, and if they live up to the hype I will love them when I finally get round to buying them. The above picture is of my favourite colour on the site.

Monty Python killer bunny slippers, ThinkGeek, $34.99

Monty Python killer bunny slippers, ThinkGeek, $34.99

How much do I want these Pythonesque slippers with flappy toothy mouths? A LOT, is the answer to that rhetorical question. Being a massive Monty Python fan, I don’t even really give a damn that (like my current slippers) they will likely offer no protection against the damp in the back yard. I’ll smoke barefoot just to wear these cute killers the rest of the time. It’s both good and bad that they’re out of stock — I suspect the postage costs to the UK would eat into my rent money significantly.

Louis Arden Men's Silver and Gold Faux Croc Watch

Louis Arden Men's Silver and Gold Faux Croc Watch, Alternative Outfitters, $38

I once read somewhere that it was better to buy a men’s watch than a women’s watch — they look suave and classy on women, and styles stay in fashion rather than change like women’s watched. I haven’t yet followed this advice, because I have never gotten around to buying a watch. But if I were to buy one, this is what I would get: a classy looking, faux leather, clearly numbered, affordable watch. A shame it’s out of stock.

Emilio Cavallini Metallic Tights

Emilio Cavallini Metallic Tights, ASOS, £29

Pros: new houndstooth tights to match my new houndstooth coat! Cons: £29 on hosiery. ‘Nuff said.

xkcd buttons, $10

xkcd buttons, $10

I’m not sure whether any outfit could be fashionable if one of these buttons was added, but I still kinda want to put them on eveything I own.
